Welcome to our last e-bulletin of 2024!
|
The end of the year is a time to reflect on the past year and look forward to 2025.
The key pillars of PPN's are to deliver community participative democracy under: REPRESENTATION, NETWORKING & CAPACITY BUILDING, we did this in 2024 as follows:-
Leitrim PPN has increased its membership by 6% this year and organised two Plenaries with over 150 people in attendance. We continue to network having attended 24 outreach events, promoting the PPN and building rapport with the community sector.
We circulated 314 funding opportunities to member groups and promoted over 600 of your events.
Meanwhile, in relation to Capacity Building- Leitrim PPN provided ten free training sessions to member groups and PPN Reps this year as well as highlighting 93 training courses in the e-bulletin.
Under Representation we fed into four submissions and filled ten Reps positions as well as dissemination of 30 Public Consultations giving members an opportunity to have their say and input.
PPN Representation stands at 49 representatives sitting on 16 committees for the PPN members to help shape the county in a more community friendly way.
Four Leitrim delegates attended the National Conference in Limerick. Minister Joe O’Brien declared that due to the increased successes and demands around the PPN work, the government decided to increase the funding from 2025 onwards, which is very welcome.
We engaged with other PPN’s regionally and nationally throughout the year, networking and sharing ideas, collaborating and engaging on projects in a supportive way.
We look forward to collaborating with Leitrim County Council on the Love Where You Live Awards and other events and our host organisation Leitrim Development Company and their various programmes with events around Social Inclusion and Mental Health Week and others.
We thank our volunteer Secretariat for their dedication and time, all our Reps on various boards and committees and over 400 member groups, and all stakeholders for engaging and we look forward to a successful and flourishing 2025.
We hope you can fill out our e-bulletin survey so we can deliver what it is YOU want and also fill in the Training Needs Analysis so we can deliver relevant free training in 2025. All e-bulletins are posted on the Leitrim PPN website so you can access them anytime.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and thriving New Year!

Many thanks to all PPN Reps who attended a support evening last Tue 10th Dec.
PPN Reps perform an important function on behalf of PPN's. They are elected by Member Groups in their College / area to get involved in, and contribute to, Local Authority Boards or Committees on behalf of the PPN.
Having PPN representation on a Board or Committee is a huge advantage. It enables the concerns and experiences of the community to be incorporated at an early stage of policy development, leading to more positive outcomes. It also supports the monitoring and evaluation of existing policies.
PPN Representatives report back to the Linkage Groups about the work of the committees and pass on information received at the committee meetings.
Linkage group meeting dates below and we encourage all Reps to attend the relevant one and feedback from your meetings to the wider PPN network.

Why get more involved in Leitrim PPN?
|
Being part of the PPN isn’t just about attending meetings; it’s about being part of a movement for change.
Whether you’re a local sports club, a disability advocacy group, or a climate action organization, the PPN offers a platform to amplify your voice, network with like-minded groups, and access training to maximise your impact.

Leitrim PPN E-Bulletin Survey
|
Leitrim PPN are conducting a Survey on the e bulletin/newsletter we circulate to over 400 member groups every two weeks, it is also circulated to other stakeholders who subscribe to it.
It contains information on PPN News, Funding/Grants, Consultations, Surveys, Training Courses, Community News, events from member groups and links to relevant newsletters.
We want to make sure we are delivering quality content and we need our audience feedback to help us improve our e bulletin/newsletter.
One of the three remits of the PPN is to act as an Information Hub, providing information relevant to the environmental, social inclusion & voluntary sector and acts as a hub around which information is distributed and received.
This will only take a few minutes of your time and for that we are very grateful if you can complete this Survey.

|
Do you have an exciting idea for a creative project or event for children and young people that you would like to see happen as part of Cruinniú na nÓg - the national day of creativity for children and young people?
- If you work with children and young people, this is a great opportunity to develop something really special. It’s vital that the children are involved in deciding what is happening so have a chat with them and see what they’re interested in and develop a plan together. Perhaps they’ve always wanted to make a film, do some incredible science experiments, or explore their own community in a creative way.
- If you’re a theatre company, arts centre, or involved in creativity in some other way and are looking to engage a new young people, this is also a great opportunity to make that happen.
- If you’re an artist that works with children and would like to get involved, contact a group that works with children and see if they’d like to work with you.
Events can take all shapes and sizes from visual and performing arts activities, to activities that explore your town, the environment, heritage, culture, science or technology through creativity or in a creative way. The emphasis should be on ‘doing’, ‘making’, ‘creating’. All events should be free and focused on children and young people (up to 18), and applications that gives access to groups of children who haven’t had such opportunities before are particularly welcomed.
