Travel to Work Data

Deirdre Frost, Policy Analyst with WDC, has just published a blog on Travel to Work data.  It contains headline figures from a forthcoming WDC report 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮, to be published in the Autumn.  This will document in detail, travel to work patterns and labour catchments across the Western Region.  The analysis is based on Census 2022 Place of Work data (POWSCAR).

Labour catchments are that area from which a town draws most of its labour supply and often can extend beyond town and county boundaries.  For example, the Galway city labour catchment extends into parts of County Mayo. This information can provide a more accurate assessment of the labour supply available, information particularly useful for employers.

Unsurprisingly, the Galway city labour catchment is by far the largest. It is followed in size by the Sligo catchment and the Letterkenny catchment.  The blog discusses the change in growth (number of resident workers) of the largest catchments since 2016.

It was one of the key projects in the first Leitrim Recreation Strategy 2014-2022. Choosing or changing your Charities name Guidance

Choosing the right name for your charity is crucial as it helps donors and beneficiaries recognise and distinguish your organisation from others. There are also legal considerations to keep in mind as the Charities Act 2009 sets out specific rules that charities must follow when selecting or changing their names.

The government has published a new report identifying barriers to climate action

The report, 'Climate Conversations 2023 – From Individual Action to Collective Engagement', builds on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland's ‘Climate Change in the Irish Mind’ study.
